Gold medals have been hard to come by in the pool for the Americans, but their most recent one came in grand style.
The mixed 4×100 medley relay team won the gold medal on Saturday by setting a world record.
Ryan Murphy, Gretchen Walsh, Nic Fink, and Torri Huske swam the race in 3:37.43, beating the world record by 15-hundredths of a second (China, at 3:37.55, also beat the previous world record, but came in second).

It was the sixth gold for the Americans in the swimming pool – they now trail Australia by one.
It’s Huske’s second gold of the Games – she also took home the women’s 100m butterfly (she earned silver in the women’s 100m free and in the 4×100 free relay).
It comes a day after the mixed 4×400 relay track team set a world record in that event – but they had to settle for the silver medal in Saturday’s final.
